Class Assignments

Dear Family,

Welcome to the Robert Benjamin Wiley Community Charter School Family! I am so happy to have your child in my class this year!

My name is Ms. Horton, and this is my 20th year teaching, 18 of those here at the Charter School. I acquired my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from Gannon University, and have continued my learning journey by taking various classes and attending numerous inservices.

This year we will provide an academically rigorous, loving environment that channels each child’s potential. Striving towards academic excellence will be a team effort, and we will work together to make success our goal. Communication is necessary to form a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me at any time if you have a question or concern. You can get in touch with me by sending a note to school with your child, emailing me at, or calling me at 461-9600. We will also have Class DOJO set up, and a paper will be sent home for you to sign up. I will be sending home notes and/or weekly newsletters that will help to continuously inform you of the happenings in our classroom and our school. If I have a more individual concern, I will contact you via phone or note home.

Please check your child’s folder/bookbag each night for important papers and homework assignments. Communication between the home and school are integral components of our program. Homework will be assigned Monday-Thursday, excluding holidays or special events.

Kindergarten is so fortunate to take part in specials as a part of the daily curriculum. The schedule is as follows:
Monday: Physical Education
Tuesday: Computer Science/Technology
Wednesday: Art
Thursday: Music
Friday: 1st Quarter- Physical Education, 2nd Quarter- Computer, 3rd Quarter- Art,
4th Quarter- Music

If you ever have any questions, please feel free to make an appointment to discuss any concerns. We are looking forward to a wonderful year of learning!
